A message from NAACP Minneapolis President-Elect Nekima Levy-Pounds

Friends,

It has taken me so long to post about last night’s Minneapolis NAACP elections, because frankly I was overwhelmed with gratitude by the love & support that many of you showed me. I am eternally grateful that so many of you showed up, made the sacrifice to pay the membership fee, & voted in the election. It was remarkable to watch the changing of the guards take place before my very eyes. Thank you for choosing me to serve as your president of the Minneapolis branch of the NAACP!! I will not let you down!

I am blessed to know that we made history last night by electing a cabinet made up entirely of women– black women–which apparently has never happened before. The photo includes all of the remarkable women who were elected, save one, Lissa L Jones. It will be my honor to serve with these ladies as we stand and fight for justice and a break from the status quo. God is with us. And if He is for us, who can be against us?

Our first meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 12th from 6:30-8:00pm at Northpoint Health and Wellness at 1315 Penn Ave. N. All officers will be given the oath of office on that evening, so please join us!

Thank you all again for your love, prayers, & support! It made all the difference in our success.

Blessings and much love to you all!
Nekima, President-elect, Minneapolis NAACP
